PENFOLDS MAX’S CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Penfolds Max’s Cabernet Sauvignon
Bright cherry red. A quick swirl and varietal cues leap from the glass. Classic cabernet notes of crushed mulberry leaf and lignified bay leaf. Dusty cocoa powder and woody spices of cassia and star anise. Blackberry and bramble fruits sit comfortably at the riper end of the varietal spectrum. Very enticing. On the palate a classically varietal rhubarb vibrancy is immediately apparent, supported by a dark fruit flavour profile. Earthy notes balance the sweeter fruits with hints of freshly grated beetroot, fresh mint, summer pudding and whipped cream. Oak derived nuances of cashews and walnuts provide texture, well supported by fine lacy tannins.

Max’s | Range | Penfolds
Penfolds Max’s tier was introduced in 2016 and pays tribute to our first Chief Winemaker Max Schubert, who dared to revolutionise Australian winemaking. Each wine is polished and charming in character, expressing varietal cues, alluring fruit and structure. They are contemporary and vibrant upon release. They are immediately accessible but not without the assurance of more to come.
Max’s constant pursuit of excellence paved the way for those who followed in his footsteps and also allowed the status and heritage of Penfolds to grow. A more approachable Penfolds style at release – ideally shelf to glass, save the cellar.
