DOMAINE JOLIET FIXIN 1ER CRU CUVÉE CAMILLE CLOS DE LA PERRIÈRE 2016
Domaine Joliet Fixin Premier Cru
La Cuvée Camille Clos de la Perrière Rouge 2016
A vintage anchored in the terroir, 100% Clos de la Perrière. Le Clos de la Perrière at its peak. Old vines to translate an exceptional terroir. A barrel made from a century-old oak tree overlooking the plot and the manor. Aging in the estate’s cellars, a masterpiece of the Cîteaux monks.
This vintage is also emblematic due to its aging. The wine rests in the cellars of the estate, an architectural jewel from the 12th century, typically Cistercian. And under these imposing vaults, a barrel in particular which keeps the Camille vintage. Indeed, this barrel was not made from just any oak; a century-old tree from Clos de la Perrière which has proudly watched over the vines vintage after vintage.

Fixin 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Perrière’ | Range | Joliet Père & Fils
Located at the summit of the village of Fixin, Le Manoir de la Perrière, founded in the XII Century by the monks of Citeaux, now belongs to the JOLIET family. Today, Bénigne JOLIET is still the sole and exclusive owner. The Fixin 1er cru “CLOS DE LA PERRIÈRE” has always been at the head of Burgundy’s finest vintages.
The Joliet family have been making wine since 1853; they cutlivate solely the monopole parcel Clos de la Perrière following sustainable methods. This 5-hectare parce lis characterised by its limestone slopes, on which Pinot Noir makes up the majority (4.5 hectares). Wine lovers suggest that this domain’s wines are easily as good as its neighbouring grands crus. This is most likely thanks to very long élevages (at least 30 months).
The Premiers Crus plots are on reasonably homogenous brown limestone soils with east to south-east exposures and at 350 to 380 metres of altitude. In some spots (Hervelets, for example) the soil is more marly. The remaining plots are on lower ground at the foot of the slopes and the soil is a mixture of limestone and marl.
The Fixin appellation, which received official recognition in 1936, produces both appellations Village and Premier Cru. Production is largely of reds (Pinot Noir) but there are some plots of white (Chardonnay). The reds are what are known as “winter wines” because they need to spend some time in bottle. High-colored, they are a brilliant deep purple or what the Burgundians call “deep mid-red”. The bouquet comprises flower scents (violet, peony), fruits (blackcurrant, Morello cherry, quince), animal scents, musk and pepper. Cherry-pit is also quite common. Often tannic and a little hard in their youth, with age the Fixin acquire a heightened and rounded attack and solid structure. Their fullness is remarkable and their texture delicate.
