CHÂTEAU SOCIANDO-MALLET 2019
Château Sociando-Mallet
Haut-Médoc 2019
“Notes of minty cassis, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, deftly framed by toasty new oak, introduce the 2019 Sociando-Mallet, a medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine that’s incipiently complex and elegantly muscular in profile. The style of the vintage has lent this more youthful polish than is sometimes the case, and it will offer a broad drinking window. Best after 2026.” – 93/100, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

2019 | Vintage | Château Sociando-Mallet
Château Sociando-Mallet produces full-bodied wines with a deep, dark colour. Their complex bouquet is usually dominated by black fruit aromas with a touch of minerality and well-integrated, elegant oak. Often somewhat “virile” when young, the wines gain in balance and complexity with age. They are fresh, straightforward, and have a wonderful length.
Château Sociando-Mallet has always been a wine with great ageing potential. A wine to be enjoyed even after 30 years in great vintages. Château Sociando-Mallet has been building its reputation since 1970, when Jean Gautreau raised standards to near Cru Classé quality. The quality of the wine continued to improve throughout the 1990s, when between 80 and 100 percent new oak became the norm.
Once again this year, the 2019 red Haut-Médoc Château Sociando-Mallet stands shoulder to shoulder with the greatest. Time and again, it proves its mettle in blind tastings, and this vintage only cements its esteemed status. Highlighting Merlot, with subtle graphite aromas, it delivers a highly enjoyable wine that is rich, concentrated, complex, and elegant, supported by polished tannins and excellent balance. This wine is already approachable, promising a superb tasting experience for the next decade.
