Overview | Of | Château de Belcier
Château de Belcier represents the right balance from the best Merlot and Cabernet grape varieties, on a terroir of great traditions and contiguous to Saint-Emilion, the Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Côtes de Castillon, one of the oldest wine-growing regions of Bordeaux).
The Château de Belcier, built at the end of the 18th century, long owned by an old Bordeaux family allied to the Montaignes, was partly rebuilt by François de Belcier, a counter-revolutionary who was guillotined in 1794.
In a classical style marked by triangular pediments, the Château de Belcier, which dates from the 1780s, dominates the harmonious landscapes of the commune of Salles de Castillon where woods and vineyards alternate. Today, owned by the mutual insurance company MACIF, the château has regained all its former splendor.
