EISENSTONE STOCKWELL SHIRAZ 2018
Eisenstone
Stockwell Barossa Valley Shiraz SR 805
2018
“This wine from Stockwell is a slightly more traditional take on the Barossa with its layers of ripe fruit lifted by some more savoury, earthy nuances. Again deeply coloured but this time the fruit is a little more mysterious and brooding – mulberry and blackberry fruits plus baked terra cotta and subtle black pepper spice all well balanced with sweet oak. That is all followed by a dry and quite firm palate – its robust fruit underscored by balanced, ripe and significant tannins that help to drive a long and muscular finish. This is traditional Barossa done well and will drink well till 2030.” – 94/100, Angus Hughson, January 2021

Barossa Valley Shiraz | Range | Eisenstone Wines
Celebrating the rich German heritage of the Barossa Valley, the name Eisenstone comes from a blend of the German word for iron – Eisen and the English – Stone. Our name celebrates the Ironstone soils in which the vines grow and the stone used by the original German settlers to build much of the famous Barossa buildings that still stand to this very day. Our aim is to establish ourselves as specialists of Barossa Valley shiraz, the icon variety of the Barossa Valley which is recognised worldwide. Within the Valley there are a number of recognised sub regions that vary in climate and soil type and bring out subtle differences in the variety.
Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the ‘western ranges’ of the famous Barossa Valley which are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional aging ability to make his wines released under the Eisenstone label. Limited volumes of each wine are produced in any given vintage, each individually numbered.
Stockwell Shiraz – Terrior
This is the first release from the Stockwell region of the Barossa Valley. The grapes were sourced from close to the township in the north east part of the Barossa Valley. The soils are a continuation of the red ironstone soils that sweep across the west and north of the valley.
