This single cask whisky was distilled at Glen Keith Distillery in August 1996, the whiskey was bottled in February 2022 from a refill sherry butt. After 25 long years maturing exclusively in a refill butt, just 423 bottles were filled at 50.5% ABV by Douglas Laing.
The aroma is sweet orchard fruit, puff pastry and vanilla cream. The taste is tropical fruit, pineapple, nectarines, coconut and delicate, warming notes of spices. The long-lasting finish is juicy fruit, apple peel and creamy oatmeal notes. The whiskey is part of the limited Douglas Laing XOP series. The Xtra Old Particular series includes rare whiskeys from the most renowned and sometimes closed Scottish distilleries. The whiskeys are bottled in single cask and at natural strength.
