4ᵉ Grand Cru Classé – 1855, Pauillac Appellation | Range | Château Duhart-Milon 2016
Duhart-Milon is a story that dates back at least to the end of the Napoleonic Empire. Back then, the estate’s wines were already presented as great classics, as wines that made the most of the terroirs of the Pauillac appellation. It is no surprise to discover that he was named Quatrième Cru Classé in 1855. Located northwest of the Pauillac AOC, the Duhart Milon vineyard is planted with only two grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The vines grow on a soil of gravel mixed with wind sands.
Château Duhart Milon 2016 is based on a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, harvested between late September and early October. On the first nose, it offers a discreet bouquet that gradually opens into the glass, revealing aromas of black fruit, woody notes and blond tobacco. On the palate, Château Duhart-Milon 2016 is moderately full-bodied, with fine tannins and crisp black fruit subtly enhanced by a touch of peppery spices.
For this 2016 vintage, Duhart Milon unveils a promising wine with a classic style but exceptional freshness. A sure bet!
