Overview | Of | Château de Monrecueil
Château de Monrecueil is the second wine of Château de Belcier, unanimously recognized as being one of the jewels of the Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Côtes de Castillon) appellation with 52 of 67 hectares under vine, one of the oldest wine regions in Bordeaux, adjoining Saint-Émilion. Château de Belcier, built at the end of the 18th century, long owned by an old Bordeaux family allied to the Montaignes, was partly rebuilt by François de Belcier, a counter-revolutionary guillotined in 1794. The vineyard is planted on clay and limestone soils and subsoils.
Château de Monrecueil represents the right balance of the best Merlot and Cabernet grape varieties. The aging is done partly in barrels. Nose of raspberry, plum, spices, fleshy, flattering, fruity and tonic mouth. A lovely wine full of charm. Its ready to drink now. Serve decanted on a shallot flank steak.
