CHÂTEAU BRANE CANTENAC 2014
Château Brane-Cantenac 2014
“This is a complete wine, full of both tannins and great swathes of ripe fruit. It has a serious side as well in its solid structure and concentration. The juicy blackberry fruits are beginning to calm down and meld into a fine dense wine that will age very well. Drink from 2025. #Cellar Selection.” – 94/100, Wine Enthusiast

OUR VINES
A CONTINUOUS CYCLE OF EXPERIENCE
Vines produce higher quality grapes as they age, becoming more resistant and providing richer, more concentrated fruit. On the plateau, Brane’s prized Cabernet Sauvignon vines, over 60 years old, give an unparalleled transmission of terroir to grape. However, we are equally as concerned with preparing the ‘old vines’ of the future as preserving the vines from the previous generation – providing them with all the possible care.
AGEING
100% NEW FRENCH OAK WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST HINT OF OAKINESS
The terroir of Brane’s plateau offers fruit with such a high level of richness and structure that they are capable of being aged in 100% French oak barrels without ever becoming ‘oaky’ or losing freshness. Thus they can be aged to their full potential, gaining body, depth and aromatic complexity whilst maintaining a delightful silky texture.
The precise barrel and wine combinations are crucial to maintaining this fine balance. After decades of experimentation, we have selected no fewer than 28 different types of barrel and levels of toasting from 8 different cooperages. Each year, we continue to taste and re-taste samples during ageing to ensure consistency of style.
