Deep ruby colour with purple nuances. Intense aromas of red berries and chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Well-structured, dense and deep. Complex aromas with well-shaped tannins. Long aftertaste.

This climat “Charmes” is located on a mid slope facing east in the Southern part of the village of Gevrey Chambertin. One of its nearest neighbour is the famous of “Chambertin”.
The Vintage 2016 : After a cool and rainy winter and a frost episode in April, the weather at the end of spring was warmer but rainy which engendered a late flowering and millerandage (grapes of small size) The summer was warm and dry. September was warm and the harvest took place at the end of the month under a bright sunshine. Vinification : whole bunch fermentation for approximately two weeks, the wines are then aged in our XVth century cellar for a period between 14 and 18 months. Moderate use of new oak.
Tasting : Tasting : Ruby colour. Delicate floral fragrances mixed with intense aromas of ripe red berries black berries (black-current) mixed with spices. Complex and vibrant. Tense with a deep and tight texture. Well-integrated tannins. Long finish with a beautiful fruit. Scores : JANCIS ROBINSON 18/20 – BURGHOUND 93/100
The Vintage 2017 : After a classic winter, spring settled down with warm températures but a cool weather in April slackened down the evolution of the vines. May was rainy and was followed by a warm summer with heat waves. However, a few thunderstorms épisodes brought enough rain to allow the maturation of the grapes to continue. The harvest started early september with an excellent sanitary level of the grapes. Vinification : whole bunch fermentation for approximately two weeks, the wines are then aged in our XVth century cellar for a period between 14 and 18 months. Moderate use of new oak.
Tasting : Deep ruby colour. Fragrances of roses mixed with aromas of cooked red fruit, tobacco and spices. Delicate vanilla note. Complex and well-balanced. Deep and tight. Elegant texture with silky tannins. Persistant and spicy aftertaste. Scores : 17,5/20 Revue du Vin de France – 17+/20 Jancis Robinson -91-94/100 Burghound.
The Vintage 2018 : After a rainy winter, a heat wave in April followed by a cold period in May, the weather settled down in Burgundy with warm temperatures in June. Summer was warm and dry. It was punctuated by several heat waves which engendered a lack of water, compensated by the presence of clay in many plots.The harvest started in the last days of August with an excellent maturity of the grapes. The red wines are crunchy, deep and dense with an outstanding aromatic complexity. Vinification : whole bunch fermentation for approximately two weeks, the wines are then aged in our XVth century cellar for a period between 14 and 18 months. Moderate use of new oak.

The Vintage 2019 : After a mild winter, spring settled down with important variations of temperatures and abundant rain which engendered millerandage (small berries). Summer was warm punctuated by several heat waves and a few thunderstorms épisodes which brought some water. The harvest started mid september under a bright sunshine. After a whole cluster fermentation in vat, the wines are aged in oak casks for a period of 14 up to 18 months in our XVth century cellar. Moderate use of new oak.
Tasting : Deep ruby colour. Floral fragrances mixed with intense aromas of crushed strawberries, ripe plum and spices on a hint of vanilla. Complex and vibrant with a beautiful fruit combination. Tight and deep texture. Well-shaped tannins. Long finish with a beautiful fruit. Score : 92/100 Burghound
