Its aroma can be like a highveld thunderstorm with that flinty, grassy smell – but as refreshing as the drops of water hitting the hot earth in its bright, zingy lemon, kumquat flavour and acidity. That balance of acid vibrance with the fruit, and the riper tropical granadilla notes, is what makes it one of the most popular wine styles around.
