An ultra premium wine with a unique origin.

Taita is a concentrated and complex wine, the production of which is extremely limited. It is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, which Aurelio Montes adds other varieties to according to their qualities. Harmonious in structure, with an attractive, long and complex finish, Taita has the potential for long aging, and can be laid down and cellared for more than 15 years.

The Taita vineyards are located at our El Arcángel de Marchigüe estate, at the western end of the Colchagua Valley and 25 km from the Pacific Ocean. Like most Chilean soils, those in Marchigüe are of granite origin at levels of decomposition that vary by location. Some have high clay content and moderate depth, while others are shallower, with less clay and more silt and rocks. In the vineyard parcels dedicated to Taita, one can clearly see glacial influence in the formation of the soil structure, where typically angular stones deposited by moving glaciers are found, as well as stones rounded and smoothed by surface water. The Taita vineyards are special because they are dry farmed, which means we do not irrigate the vines during their development and ripening stages; they develop ‘naturally’, with consequently fewer bunches of smaller, more concentrated grapes.
