Martinet Bru Priorat 2021

“The 2021 Martinet Bru was also bottled and ready for tasting. 2021 is a year of very good potential in Priorat. There is great tension here, and the wine has freshness, complexity and depth, something special, but it was not easy, as they got a lot of rain in September. It’s elegant and balanced, the tannins are very fine and the wine feels very relaxed (quite remarkable, as it was recently bottled). It has to be one of the finest vintages of Martinet Bru. I find great purity here. Sara Pérez told me the 2021s seem to dance.” – 94/100, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Martinet Bru | Range| Mas Martinet Viticultors

Martinet Bru is the door to Priorat. It is a wine of our times, more accessible in every sense. The estates where it comes from receive the south-west wind called garbinada, a humid sea breeze known for cooling the last hours of the hottest summer afternoons and helping to obtain slower and more extended ripening. A modern, nice, appetising and fresh wine, but with the typical structure and minerality of our region. The most drinkable slope in Priorat.

Martinet Bru is mainly sourced from a single vineyard, known as Mas Seró. This vineyard is located within the “Vi de Vila” (village wines) zone of Masos de Falset. It adjoins the D.O. Montsant (wine appellation) and has a similar climate to Montsant, although the differentiating factor is the soil, which is Llicorella (slate-based). The soil is stony but the vineyard is cool in terms of climate. It faces the cooling sea breeze (known as the “Garbinada”) and the quality of the soil means this wine is more drinkable and easier to understand than most Priorat wines, affording it hint of liquorice, blackberries… rosemary… and tannins.
