This limited edition 40 year old Islay single malt was laid to sleep at the Caol Ila distillery in September 1980 and was bottled for Douglas Laing’s Xtra Old Particular range in June 2021. Charged from refill hogshead number 14963 at a natural cask strength 54.6% ABV, this super rare malt is one of just 206 hand-filled bottles that comes with fine wooden presentation case, glass stopper decanter and COA.

Nose: Expect immediately oceanic, West Coast of Scotland character, with enticing yet subtle phenols coming through
Palate: The palate reveals leather, malted barley, spices and a honey-glazed smoked meat quality
Finish: The finish is exceptional, with more peat smoke, dried citric fruits and oak bonfire embers
