Background | Of | Château Montgrand Milon
Château Montgrand Milon is made at Château Fonbadet, which is situated in the north of the small village of Saint-Lambert in Pauillac, close to the banks of the Gironde river. In the Middle Ages, the estate was part of Château Latour, until the current owners, the Peyronie family, purchased it at the beginning of the 20th century. The vineyards are located near to some of the most reputed estates in Bordeaux, including Château MoutonRothschild and Château Latour.
Situated in the north of the small village of Saint-Lambert, the Château Montgrand-Milon vineyard benefits from a prime location among the most reputed estates of the Pauillac appellation. The vines, which are over 50 years old, are planted on the deep knolls of Graves with a north-west facing aspect which gives them good sunlight exposure. Due to the vineyard’s proximity to the river, it also benefits from its own microclimate. Soils consist of gravel and sand and vines are planted at a density of 10,000 per hectare. Trellising is double-cordon trained with all harvesting done by hand.
